Franklin Graham Urges Clergy to Support COVID Vaccines, Says Jesus Would Have Used Them Too
With some Americans feeling hesitant about getting a COVID-19 shot, evangelist Franklin Graham is urging pastors to encourage their congregations to trust in the vaccines.
Graham, the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and Samaritan’s Purse, told ABC News that there could be harmful consequences if pastors discourage church members from receiving the shot.
“I would hope that the pastors in the pulpit would tell people how they can be saved from God’s judgment,” Graham said. “I think for a pastor to tell someone not to take the vaccine is problematic because what would happen if that person got coronavirus and died?”
“I think if there were vaccines available in the time of Christ, Jesus would have made reference to them and used them,” he added.
Trust vs. Fear
I read this article yesterday and I’ll tell you my head wanted to explode. So many thoughts rushed through my mind I could hardly keep them straight. The fact that this is so wrong and so against the entire theme of the Bible makes me want to scream. So instead I write.
There are two major themes through the Bible. From beginning to end it is a book about the Israelites. Throughout that story are the themes of TRUST and OBEY.
Trust Yahweh no matter what and obey His Commands.
Many like to quote Psalms 91. I wonder if Franklin Graham actually thinks about the words of this Psalm.
Psalms 91
Psa 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, Who abides under the shadow of the Almighty,
Psa 91:2 He is saying of Yahweh, “My refuge and my stronghold, My God, in whom I trust!”
Psa 91:3 For He delivers you from the snare of a trapper, From the destructive pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He covers you with His feathers, And under His wings you take refuge; His truth is a shield and armor.
Psa 91:5 You are not afraid of the dread by night, Of the arrow that flies by day,
Psa 91:6 Of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Of destruction that ravages at midday.
Psa 91:7 A thousand fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it does not come near you.
Psa 91:8 Only with your eyes you look on, And see the reward of the wrong ones.
Psa 91:9 Because you have made Yahweh – My refuge, the Most High – your dwelling place,
Psa 91:10 No evil befalls you, And a plague does not come near your tent;
Psa 91:11 For He commands His messengers concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.
Psa 91:12 They bear you up in their hands, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Psa 91:13 You tread upon lion and cobra, Young lion and serpent you trample under foot.
Psa 91:14 “Because he cleaves to Me in love, Therefore I deliver him; I set him on high, Because he has known My Name.
Psa 91:15 “When he calls on Me, I answer him; I am with him in distress; I deliver him and esteem him.
Psa 91:16 “With long life I satisfy him, And show him My deliverance.”
Do we believe Yahweh or not?
Bottom line it comes to this question. Do we believe Yahweh when He says the above… or not? To me there is no question. I believe Him. I believe Him when He says every word of the above Psalms. There is no but in there for me. There are no exceptions. None.
I believe Franklin Graham, or any person speaking from a Christian pulpit, should encourage their people to trust Yahweh rather than a man made vaccine. By encouraging the vaccine, and saying that Jesus would have made use of them, Franklin Graham has shown himself to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing and Christian’s need to turn away from listening to him.
I don’t rely on a mask or a shot (untested or tested makes no difference to me) to keep me healthy and safe. I rely on my God, Yahweh. He is my God in whom I trust! No matter what!
This is Simply My Opinion,
